I'm afraid I have to disagree with you on this one.
I've moved to the middle of the road in recent years as it pertains to politics. When we're talking about issues, I lean towards the liberal viewpoint. When we talk about economics, I lean towards the conservative.
I had a conversation about this with a friend of mine a few years ago and it's put me in a conundrum.
I'm don't think we should be punishing the rich for being rich. A lot of them started with nothing and got to where they are with hard work. We already tax them more than anyone else. The top 5% pay over 50% of the taxes. They're also the ones provided most of the jobs in this country and if we take money away from them, the businesses that most of us rely on for our jobs are eventually going to suffer.
I really struggle with stuff like this because there are so many people in our country who need help, need a break, but economically, it just doesn't make sense to try to do that by taxing the rich even more than we already do.
I don't know, Greta! I just don't know!
Here's something I'd like to hear your thoughts on: If the church were doing its job, the government wouldn't have to be taking care of the poor and the disadvantaged.
Blogging about: quiz night, The Wire, road trips, walking dogs, words, music, broccoli, cooking, ending the achievement gap, reading, ideas, and people who live what they believe.
